Job description

Temporary, part-time faculty positions offer the opportunity toassist a diverse group of students in achieving their educationalgoals. These part-time positions are on an as-needed basis andapplicants should live within commuting distance to OrangeCounty.

Performance Responsibilities

• The primary responsibilities of part-time faculty are to teachclasses in accordance with established curriculum and courseoutlines. The faculty member will prepare and provide students withcourse outlines, materials, and lectures that support learningobjectives set forth in the course syllabus; when requested, helpdevelop, and measure learning outcomes as identified by thedepartment; and assess student performance and maintain graderecords.
• Report assessment data on student learning outcomes, administrativeunit outcomes, and/or student services outcomes.
• Utilize the results of student learning outcomes assessment to makeimprovements in teaching and learning.
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct andethics.
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
• Follow the regulations, policies, and procedures of the college anddistrict as published.
• Complete all program/college/district reporting deadlines ontime.
• Complete and submit required documents in a timely manner.
• Make use of technology and learning materials that are current,support the lesson, and enable students to engage with thematerial.
• Establish and maintain a framework for regular and sustainedcontact with/among students if teaching distance educationcourses.
• Teach classes during the scheduled time and at the assignedlocation.
• Meet workload obligations.
• Maintain accurate records.
• May participate in curriculum review and program development.
• Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, on-line and/oroff-campus classes.

Minimum Qualifications

1. 1. Must meet one (1) of the following qualifications under (a)through (c):
   • (a) Any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professionalexperience or
   • (b) Any associate degree and six years of professionalexperience.
   • (c) A combination of education and experience that is at least theequivalent of (a) or (b) above. Applicants submitting anapplication on the basis of equivalency must thoroughly andcompletely answer all of the equivalency questions, in addition toproviding all other required materials.
   Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree. The professional experience required must bedirectly related to the faculty member’s teaching assignment.
