Responsibilities

  • Teach classes per curriculum and course outlines as set forth by the college.
  • Prepare and provide course outlines, materials, and lectures aligned to learning objectives.
  • Assess student performance and maintain grade records; report learning outcomes.
  • Use assessment data to improve teaching and student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain professional conduct, ethics, and current knowledge in the subject area.
  • Follow college/district policies, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
  • Deliver courses on campus, online, or at satellite locations as scheduled.

Job description

Part-time/temporary faculty positions offer theopportunity to assist a diverse group of students in achievingtheir educational goals. As one of the largest community collegedistricts in southern California, we offer a wide range ofopportunities in transfer, general education, career, and technicaleducation programs. These part-time positions are on an as-neededbasis and applicants should live within commuting distance toOrange County.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The primary responsibilities of part-time faculty are to teachclasses in accordance with established curriculum and courseoutlines.
  • The faculty member will prepare and provide students withcourse outlines, materials, and lectures that support learningobjectives set forth in the course syllabus; when requested, helpdevelop, and measure learning outcomes as identified by thedepartment; and assess student performance and maintain graderecords.
  • Report assessment data on student learning outcomes,administrative unit outcomes, and/or student services outcomes.
  • Utilize the results of student learning outcomes assessment tomake improvements in teaching and learning.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct andethics.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
  • Follow the regulations, policies, and procedures of the collegeand district as published.
  • Complete all program/college/district reporting deadlines ontime.
  • Complete and submit required documents in a timely manner.
  • Make use of technology and learning materials that are current,support the lesson, and enable students to engage with thematerial.
  • Establish and maintain a framework for regular and sustainedcontact with/among students if teaching distance educationcourses.
  • Teach classes during the scheduled time and at the assignedlocation.
  • Meet workload obligations.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • May participate in curriculum review and programdevelopment.
  • Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, on-line and/oroff-campus classes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. 1. Must meet one of the following qualifications under (a)through (d):
    • (a) Master's in business, business management, businessadministration, accountancy, finance, marketing or businesseducation, OR
    • (b) Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in economics,personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree(J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.), OR
    • (c) Bachelor's in economics with a business emphasis AND Master'sin personnel management, public administration, or Juris DoctorDegree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.)
    • (d) A combination of education and experience that is at leastthe equivalent of (a) or (b) above. Candidates making an application on the basis of equivalency must submit a Supplemental Application for Equivalency Determination in addition to all other required materials.
