Job summary

VTG is seeking an Electronic Technician to support multiple projects in the Virginia Beach area. The role focuses on mechanical assembly, cabling installation, and thorough testing of submarine and shipboard components.

Responsibilities include data analysis, technical reporting, and verifying equipment functionality prior to testing events. A BS in electronics or equivalent experience is required, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• BS in electronics or related field preferred with 3+ years of experience.
• AS with 4+ years of related experience also acceptable.
• HS or equivalent plus 6+ years of related experience and/or training acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Perform layout and mechanical assembly for submarine and shipboard CSRR and CANES racks.
• Install copper and fiber optic cabling across submarine and shipboard platforms using isometric drawings.
• Conduct testing on installed components, including continuity, megger, fiber light/loss tests, voltage frisks, torque checks, and inspections.
• Analyze and interpret test data to assess system performance and identify issues.
• Complete technical reports and objective quality evidence documentation.
• Verify functionality of newly installed equipment before System Operational Verification Testing.

Education/Experience

• BS in electronics plus three years of related work experience, AS plus four years of related experience, or HS or equivalent plus six years of work related experience and/or training. Full understanding and familiarization of electricity and electronics required.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Computer Skills

• Working knowledge of MS Office applications.

VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $23 - 35 per hour, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
