Job summary

VT Group (VTG) is seeking a Submarine Electronic Technician 2 to support multiple AIT projects. You will perform layout and mechanical assembly for submarine and shipboard racks, install copper and fiber optic cabling, and conduct comprehensive testing and data analysis to ensure system performance.

The role requires a BS in electronics with several years of related experience, or an equivalent combination. A valid driver's license is required and some travel may be necessary.

Qualifications

• BS in electronics with 3+ years of related experience, or AS with 4+ years, or HS with 6+ years.
• Familiarity with electricity and electronics.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical assembly for submarine and shipboard racks per drawings.
• Install copper and fiber optic cabling across platforms.
• Perform testing including continuity, megger, fiber optic tests, voltage checks, torque values, tempest inspections.
• Analyze and interpret test data to assess system performance.
• Prepare technical reports and objective quality evidence documentation.
• Verify functionality of installed equipment before System Operational Verification Testing.

Overview

VTG is seeking an Submarine Electronic Technician 2 to support multiple AIT projects.

What will you do?

• Mechanical Assembly: Perform layout and mechanical assembly procedures for submarine and shipboard CSRR and CANES-related racks. Report any issues or concerns to the lead engineering technician.
• Cable Installation: Install copper and fiber optic cabling across various submarine and shipboard platforms, utilizing cableway routing and isometric drawings to ensure accurate placement.
• Testing Procedures: Conduct testing on installed system components, including continuity and megger tests, fiber optic light and loss tests, voltage frisks, wet/dry torque values, and tempest inspections.
• Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret test data to assess system performance and identify potential issues.
• Technical Reporting: Complete technical reports and objective quality evidence documentation, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
• System Evaluation: Verify the functionality of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance before System Operational Verification Testing

Education/Experience

• BS in electronics plus three years of related work experience, AS plus four years of related experience, or HS or equivalent plus six years of work related experience and/or training. Full understanding and familiarization of electricity and electronics required.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Computer Skills

• Working knowledge of MS Office applications.

VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $23 - 35 per hour, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
