Job summary

Responsibilities

• Mechanical Assembly: layout and assemble CSRR/CANES-related racks for submarine and shipboard systems.
• Cable Installation: install copper and fiber optic cabling using routing drawings to ensure correct placement.
• Testing Procedures: perform continuity, megger, fiber optic, voltage, torque, and tempest tests on installed components.
• Data Analysis: interpret test data to evaluate system performance and identify issues.
• Technical Reporting: prepare reports and quality evidence with clear, accurate documentation.
• System Evaluation: verify new equipment functionality prior to System Operational Verification Testing.

Job description

Overview

VTG is seeking an Submarine Electronic Technician 2 to support multiple AIT projects.

What will you do?

• Mechanical Assembly: Perform layout and mechanical assembly procedures for submarine and shipboard CSRR and CANES-related racks. Report any issues or concerns to the lead engineering technician.
• Cable Installation: Install copper and fiber optic cabling across various submarine and shipboard platforms, utilizing cableway routing and isometric drawings to ensure accurate placement.
• Testing Procedures: Conduct testing on installed system components, including continuity and megger tests, fiber optic light and loss tests, voltage frisks, wet/dry torque values, and tempest inspections.
• Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret test data to assess system performance and identify potential issues.
• Technical Reporting: Complete technical reports and objective quality evidence documentation, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
• System Evaluation: Verify the functionality of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance before System Operational Verification Testing

Do you have what it takes?

Education/Experience:

• BS in electronics plus three years of related work experience, AS plus four years of related experience, or HS or equivalent plus six years of work related experience and/or training. Full understanding and familiarization of electricity and electronics required.

Mathematical Skills:

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Computer Skills:

• Working knowledge of MS Office applications.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Valid driver's license

• Must be able to travel as required.

VTG's estimated starting pay range is $23 - 35 per hour, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
