Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Maintenance Technician in the Suwannee Correctional Institution to maintain, repair, and install electronic systems across multiple facilities. This on-site role requires experience in electronics or electrical trades and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of electronics/electrician experience OR four or more years of electronics experience; college or vocational/technical training can substitute for the required experience.
• Valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical and electronic systems and devices including but not limited to electronic perimeter security systems, internal electronic security systems, electronic and electrical locking control systems, CCTV systems, communications systems and related components.
• Maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical infrastructure, systems, and devices; provide on-the-job training to supervised inmates.
• Perform preventive maintenance, tests, logs, and maintain records for electrical systems per Department guidelines.
• Repair and modify complex electronic equipment; operate, repair, and calibrate testing equipment.
• Plan and organize work, requisition necessary parts, and adhere to maintenance and construction policies and procedures.
• Prepare reports, maintain custody and control of supervised inmates, participate in staff training, and perform related duties.
