Job Description

The Electronic Manufacturing Specialist, located in Norcross GA, will focus on the manufacture of the advanced electronic components in GMI’s systems. This job will have high work diversity. Building, configuring, testing, and/or repairing computers, servo power units and spectrophotometer probe heads are among the expected tasks. Typical tasks will include troubleshooting computer components, utilizing .bat files and utilities to configure electronics, setting up network communications, and interpreting testing data.
This role also has a travel component, where the Electronic Manufacturing Specialist will go to customer sites to 1) make repair on electronic system, or 2) perform a site survey to determine how a new system that GMI has sold will tie-in to the existing electrical system on the customer’s press. The expected travel is 10-20%, with most trips being 2-5 days (weekend work is not typical, is only done at the agreement of the employee, and are compensated with days off). This travel will also help to familiarize the employee with the customers and end-markets that GMI serves.
This position will be trained by our expert and experienced (20+ years industry experience) employees. After training is completed, a high degree of autonomy is expected and desired. The Electronic Manufacturing Specialist will be expected to cooperate with management in setting reasonable production goals. If assistance or oversight is needed, it will be available and should be sought pro-actively.

Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Preference for candidates with formal education or certification related to electronics or computers
• Experience with computer systems. Ideally experience building or repairing computers.
• Experience with networking of computers
• Experience with software configuration
• Knowledge of common electronic components
• Can read an electrical schematic
• Ability to analyze and interpret test data
• Excellent reading ability, can understand complex technical documentation
• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Can lift 50 pounds over head
• Comfortable with a small-company environment

Our Offer

This is a salaried exempt position, with health benefits. GMI intends to offer strongly competitive salary for
the position. Successful candidates will likely be offered between $50k – $80k / yr salary, and exceptional
candidates may be offered more. All travel expenses are reimbursed, including a generous per-diem for
meals. Travel will typically be by air or with your personal vehicle (reimbursed for distance driven).
