Job description

Ensure the seamless operation of advanced automated systems keeping vital defense infrastructure running. As an Automation Systems Technician (Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic) for the 45th Civil Engineer Squadron at Patrick Space Force Base (formerly Patrick AFB, FL), you will serve as the pivotal force behind the installation, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of critical electronic control systems, components, and equipment. You will execute vital technical projects that directly support global space and national defense missions. If you are a dedicated technical expert, a master of your trade, and passionate about ensuring mission success through technical excellence and mentorship, this role allows you to make a profound and lasting impact on our nation's defense infrastructure.

The position is responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating various types of moderately complex electronically controlled equipment. This includes performing operational tests, executing preventive maintenance, and applying comprehensive electronics knowledge to complex systems (such as HVAC, boiler combustion control, and materials handling equipment). Additionally, you will play a key role in ensuring a safe, clean, and secure work environment while guiding and training lower-grade technicians.

Salary Range is $30.75 - $35.83 per hour based on experience.

Requirements For This Position
  • U.S. Citizenship
RECRUITMENT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s):
  • Knowledge of the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of electronically controlled industrial systems, components, and accessories.
  • Knowledge of electronic theory and circuits and basic logic circuits for power, timing, and motion controls, indicating and counting mechanisms, and a variety of technical data (such as schematics, diagrams, and technical orders) relating to the electronics trade.
  • Knowledge of the operation, capabilities, and limitations of electronic systems complicated by a variety of multi-component assemblies and devices.
  • Knowledge of related electrical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of safety, environmental, and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Skill in the use of hand and power tools of the electronics trade, including a variety of electronic, electrical, or electromechanical test and measurement equipment. Preferred Experience: Industrial Control Systems: Hands-on experience with moderately complex electronic control systems such as boiler combustion controls, heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, materials handling equipment (digital weighers, laser readers, electronic counters), or chemical process controls. Advanced Technical Troubleshooting: Proven experience reading and interpreting electrical/electronic block diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics to analyze system failures and perform precision repairs. Solid-State Theory & Logic: Practical familiarity with solid-state diode theory, pulse forming networks, Wheatstone Bridge, and simple logic circuitry (gates, latches, flip-flops).
