Job summary

SGS Consulting in Iowa City, IA seeks an engineering prototype technician to support harness and electronics integration on development rigs.

You will read harness prints, assemble and modify harnesses and brackets, perform fit-up, and suggest layouts. Strong hands-on skills with PCB rework, 3D printing, CAD basics, and MS Office are required; some purchasing and documentation duties complete the role. This position offers growth in a collaborative design environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to modify electrical hardware to support engineering builds/fit-ups.
• Manage experimental equipment inventory.
• PCB rework including through-hole and SMT; hand assemble small PCBs for prototypes.
• Basic user of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams.
• Update and modify mechanical documentation (prints/models).
• Experience with 3D printing.
• AutoCAD a plus.
• Soldering background is a big plus.

Responsibilities

• Read harness prints and build or rework harnesses.
• Fit-up harnesses and brackets on equipment; advise on layout/design changes.
• Fit up electronic equipment on machines to support engineering development.
• Create sketches and documentation of prototype harnesses and brackets.
• Purchase components for harnesses, electronics, and brackets for prototypes.
