Job summary

SGS Consulting is seeking a hands-on electronics repair and failure-analysis technician to assess prototype units, perform functional tests, and isolate root causes. The role includes disassembly, component exchanges, and documentation aligned with SOPs, with direct collaboration across electrical, mechanical, and software teams.

The ideal candidate will have strong debugging skills, familiarity with Linux/macOS/Windows CLIs, and experience in OrCAD/Allegro, ADB/UART, and LED/consumer

Qualifications

• Experience in repairs and root cause analysis of small electronics.
• Proficient in using tools to flash and program repairs.
• Able to adapt to changing statements of work daily.
• Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks to complete work.
• Experience contacting design engineers for troubleshooting.
• Willing to propose SOP improvements to boost efficiency.
• Clear communication using text, photos, and videos for assembly processes.

Responsibilities

• Assess condition of returned prototypes and confirm failure mode.
• Run functional tests and perform root cause analysis on defects.
• Disassemble units per SOPs and inspect related systems.
• Perform component exchanges to isolate failures.
• Document work thoroughly and consistently.
• Provide solutions to teams with electrical, mechanical, and software issues.
• Assist with small pre-production units and scaled prototype assembly/disassembly.
• Flash, program, and calibrate prototypes following SOPs.
• Run scripts via Linux, MacOS, and PC CLIs; no scripting required.
• Utilize AB familiarity and electronic analysis tools for QC.
• Engage in continuous improvement and equipment repairs.
