Job summary

SGS Consulting in Washington, DC seeks a hands-on prototype technician to support opto/mechanical/electronic systems in our lab. You will assemble, bring up, and troubleshoot prototype test equipment, maintain lab inventory, and collaborate with design engineers to resolve issues and improve production efficiency.

Strong soldering, CAD familiarity (NX/ SolidWorks), and experience with electronics testing tools are required; initiative and teamwork are valued.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or 3 years of relevant experience.
• Troubleshooting experience for smaller electronics devices.
• Experience with prototyping and flexible processes.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, bring up, and troubleshoot opto/mechanical/electronic prototype systems.
• Conduct mechanical assembly testing with calibrated tools and electrical testing with specialized equipment.
• Maintain organized lab with inventory, consumables, and tools, and support others with assembly work.
• Coordinate with design engineers for troubleshooting and feedback.
• Adapt to daily changing statements of work and balance tasks.
