Responsibilities

• Plan and layout work from electrical and electronic block diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical orders.
• Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate electrical and electronic systems and related components.
• Review work orders for overhauls, repairs, fabrication, or modifications.
• Perform pretest, functional testing, tuning, alignment, and calibration of complex electronic systems.
• Diagnose problems in control equipment and identify required repairs.
• Overhaul electronic/electrical equipment and PCB assemblies.
• Apply knowledge of voltages, currents, and signals to detect improper operation.

Primary purpose of this position is to install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate complex systems of electronic digital computer systems and their components and peripheral devices.

Major Duties

• Plans and lays out work from electrical and electronic block diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical orders.
• Installs, maintains, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs fire alarm detection systems, fire alarm suppression systems, intrusion detection systems, traffic control systems, information display systems and related components.
• Review work order requirements reflecting systems to be overhauled, repaired, fabricated, or modified.
• Performs pretest, operational (functional), testing, tuning, alignment, and/or calibration of complex electronic digital systems, components, and/or sub-assemblies.
• Tests and diagnoses problems in linear electronics control equipment, identifying any malfunctions and the repair required.
• Repairs and/or overhauls various electronic/electrical digital equipment, printed circuit boards, power supplies, regulators, and contactors.
• Applies knowledge of voltage characteristics, current, and signal shape to recognize indications of improper operation.
• Installs, overhauls, repairs, fabricates, and/or modifies electronically controlled industrial systems, digital computer processor, components, and/or sub-assemblies.
• Performs preventive maintenance on electronic control systems to include disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and calibration.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
• Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
• This is a designated random Drug Testing Position.
• Must be able to pass a preemployment physical.
• Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
• Must have a valid drivers license. Emergency overtime/shift work may be required.
