Job summary

VIAVI Solutions is seeking a dedicated electronics test technician in Rapid City, SD to execute standardized test procedures and document results for optoelectronic, fiber optic, and electrical assemblies. You will set up fixtures and use oscilloscopes and meters while collaborating with engineering to resolve production issues.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in a manufacturing or test environment, an associate degree in electronics or related field, and strong data recording and communication

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years in a manufacturing or production test environment, preferably with optoelectronic or telecommunications equipment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of electronic circuits and test methodologies.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and signal generators.
• Familiarity with fiber optic technology and test equipment is a plus.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized test procedures and document test results accurately.
• Perform functional, performance, and environmental testing on optoelectronic, fiber optic, and electrical assemblies and systems.
• Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot failures to the component level using test equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve production issues and improve product quality.
• Set up and maintain test fixtures, equipment, and workstations.
• Follow strict safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback on test procedures and product design.
• Perform basic soldering and rework as needed.
• Document non-conformances and assist in root cause analysis.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:
