Job summary

Arkana Laboratories is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Training in the Electron Microscopy department. You will train in preparing histologic slides for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists, performing duties under limited supervision.

Education includes a Bachelor’s or Associate degree with biology/chemistry coursework; histology skills and MS Word proficiency are required, with HT/HTL eligibility after one year. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:30am–3:30pm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree with at least 12 semester hours biology and chemistry.
• Histology-specific and laboratory technical skills.
• Proficient in MS Word.
• Eligible to sit for the HT/HTL exam after 1 year of employment.
• Experience: 2 years of lab experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Become proficient in day-to-day operations of Lab Services.
• Assess tissue adequacy for testing; perform quality control checks; complete equipment maintenance and logs.
• Develop problem-solving skills and determine corrective actions for operating errors.
• Monitor and assess performance; assist in Lab for other duties as assigned.
