Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our Histology team in Shelton, CT. The work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 pm to 2:30 am, performing technical grossing, tissue processing, embedding, and staining under supervision.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science or Medical Technology. New grads welcome; company provides full training and a strong benefits package including health, retirement plans and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform all technical grossing procedures required to process and submit specimens for microscopic review under the supervision of pathologists.
• Operate and maintain automated tissue processors, perform tissue embedding, Cryostat sectioning, and related equipment.
• Operate and maintain H&E stainers, IHC stainers, special stains and cover slipping units, and perform manual cover slipping.
• Provide recut preparation for microtomy and slide organization for case compilation for pathology.
• Quality control completed cases; maintain lab logs and sample storage locations.
• Handle and dispose of lab reagents and chemicals safely; comply with safety checks and SOPs.
