Job summary

Moog Space and Defense Group in Blacksburg, VA is seeking an Electromechanical System Engineer to design and analyze precision electromechanical equipment for harsh environments and high-reliability military/aerospace applications.

You will lead cross-disciplinary efforts, utilize CAD/CAE tools (UG NX), and ensure requirements compliance with a focus on motion control and packaging. The role reports to the Engineering Director and is onsite in Blacksburg.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or aeronautical engineering.
• 5 years of experience in design and analysis of precision electromechanical equipment.
• Experience with mechanical design/packaging and CAD/CAE (UG NX desirable).

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the system design of complex rotary servo motion assemblies for harsh environments and high reliability applications in military and aerospace markets.
• Establish concepts and requirements across mechanical, structural dynamics, electrical, thermal, and rotary motion to develop integrated electromechanical systems.
• Predict system-level performance and select optimum approaches for specific applications.
• Lead an integrated product development team to ensure timely project completion.
• Track project progress and report program status to senior management.
• Understand/interpret customer specifications and requirements.
• Prepare statements of work and product specifications and interface with suppliers and customers for technical aspects.
