Jobtailor is seeking a senior electrical engineer in Newport News, VA to join the Aircraft Carrier Electrical Engineering team (E63). You will work on generators, switchboards, transformers and 60Hz/400Hz systems, supporting CVN RCOH.

You will apply electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to complex systems, perform assembly and analysis, and contribute to prototype fabrication and testing. The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering (ABET-accredited), U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to work on site.
  • 5+ years of exempt engineering experience or 3+ years with a Master's or 0 with a PhD.
  • Experience applying electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems.
  • Experience with assembly, analysis, documentation, quality testing, design, testing, modification, fabrication of prototype electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support CVN RCOH-related electrical engineering projects within E63 – Aircraft Carrier Electrical Engineering.
  • Work on generators, switchboards, transformers, circuit breakers, 60Hz/400Hz systems, illumination and related systems.
  • Apply electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems.
  • Perform assembly, analysis and documentation of results; construct developmental assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  • Conduct quality testing and assist in prototype design, testing, fabrication and assembly.

Job description

  • Work as a senior electrical engineer within department E63 – Aircraft Carrier Electrical Engineering, primarily supporting CVN RCOH
  • Work within disciplines including generators, load center switchboards, transformers, circuit breakers, 60Hz/400Hz systems, illumination, lighting circuits, machinery control and monitoring systems, ABTs and MBTs, interior communications, alarm circuits, fiber optic cable plant, radar, radio, or combat systems
  • Apply electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems
  • Perform assembly, analysis, and documentation of results
  • Construct developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components
  • Conduct quality testing
  • Support and participate in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; or Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program required
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to work 1st shift
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Experience applying electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems
  • Experience with assembly, analysis, documentation, quality testing, design, testing, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems
