Job summary

Schneider Electric seeks an Electromechanical Design Engineer to sustain and enhance its Low Voltage Switchboard offering from a design and technical perspective.   • Previous product development experience is preferred.
  • Experience with CAD software to create component/assembly concepts and updates.

Job description

The Electromechanical Design Engineer will work for Low Voltage Switchboard products and will be responsible for sustaining and maintaining the existing offer from a design and technical perspective. In this role you willsupport manufacturing plants across North America, quality, customer support, industrialization, and other cross‑functional teams by evaluating design‑related issues, approving deviations, reviewing technical documentation, and ensuring that product changes preserve safety, reliability, manufacturability, cost effectiveness, and compliance with applicable standards.

  • Support manufacturing plants with design‑related questions, issues, deviations, and product clarifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • > 3 years of experience responsible for usability testing and design of high-tech products (hardware or software) in support of end user’s needs
  • Product experience related to the design of Low Voltage Switchboard
  • Previous product development experience is preferred
  • Creation of multiple component/assembly solutions to envision product concepts. Development to be synchronized with changes/advances to existing product releases. This includes manipulation of appropriate CAD software.
  • Assist in verification of design to performance requirements. This activity includes participation in test plan, results analysis, and the feedback of appropriate design parameters back into component/assembly design.
  • Interface with manufacturing organization to ensure that a well‑optimized component/assembly is developed from fabrication/assembly concerns (Tolerance Analysis).
  • Develop electronic and hard copy records that conform to internal standards and support the development, implementation and maintenance stages of the projects/products. Examples include up to date BOM (part number, description, material, processes, where used), Component Drawings (geometry, functional dimensioning, process callout), and Project General Files
  • Prepare instructional/operational information as required.
  • Prepare preliminary sketches or diagrams reflecting basic design concept.Makes mathematical calculations and adjustments in drawings and specifications.
  • Recommends changes or modifications as appropriate to meet manufacturability, functionality and measurability requirements.
  • Prepares and oversees final layout, detail, assembly drawings, and other required documentation.
  • Creates computer models of the product design concept
  • Generates and maintains organized database and/or B.O.M., change reports and/or other documentation.
  • Prepares and maintains schedule estimates
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, which includes ability in writing technical documents.
  • Self‑starter, team player, multi‑tasking with good time management skills and the ability to function across organizational boundaries.
  • Provide support to manufacturing and quality organization on customer and production issues as necessary.

Travel:10% travel required to perform testing at laboratories.

Also, must have work experience with:
  • Designing Low Voltage Switchgear products.
  • Experience in CAD tools (Inventor, ProE, Creo, Auto CAD)
  • PEP Project Cycle Management
  • IEEE / ANSI / UL testing requirements
  • Knowledge of standards for Low Voltage Switchboards.
  • Safety Review process
  • Creation and use of Fault Tree Analysis
  • Creation and management of Design and Application FMEAs
  • Experience in analysis tools (CETOL and Enventive)
  • Experience with Schneider Electric tools (Symphony and PDM)
  • Experience with Schneider Electric processes (PEP, PMP/Agile methodology, 8D analysis)

For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD 101,600 - USD 152,400 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short‑term incentives. The compensation range for this full‑time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
