Job summary

Fischione Instruments is seeking a full-time experienced electromechanical assembly technician at our Export, PA facility. You will assemble, test, calibrate, and document products used in laboratory and specimen preparation.

The role requires working from drawings, troubleshooting complex assemblies, and collaborating with manufacturing, service, and engineering teams to deliver high-precision equipment. A2-year degree or equivalent experience is accepted.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in EET or MET or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of assembly experience in a technology manufacturing environment or 4 years of related electromechanical experience.
  • Experience with vacuum systems and helium leak testing is a plus.
  • Able to read drawings and measure precisely using appropriate tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble products from drawings, schematics, and instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical assemblies.
  • Support manufacturing, service, and engineering with prototypes and first-run products.

Job description

Fischione Instruments is seeking a full-time experienced electromechanical assembly technician at our manufacturing facility located in Export, PA. The successful candidate will be responsible for the electrical and mechanical assembly of our laboratory and specimen preparation products.

Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Assemble products from drawings, schematics, sketches, wiring diagrams, procedures, and verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision
  • Troubleshoot electronic and mechanical assemblies
  • Support manufacturing, service, and engineering by building prototypes and first-run products
  • Use hand tools, electrical and mechanical test/repair equipment, as well as specialty tools, jigs, and fixtures
  • Work to extreme tolerances and achieve ultra-precise product operation, frequently while working with small-scale components.
  • Perform advanced adjustments and calibration using test instruments
  • Perform highly complex assembly and testing processes and troubleshooting
  • Record and analyze test data and prepare reports when required
  • Document processes and train appropriate personnel on manufacturing processes
  • Inspect and test assemblies built by others in manufacturing or service
  • Generate recommendations for engineering changes
  • Document all assembly work performed
Qualifications and requirements
  • An associate degree (EET or MET) with a minimum of two years of assembly experience within a technology manufacturing environment or four years of related electromechanical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of vacuum systems, vacuum components, helium leak testing, and the use and handling of compressed gases is considered a plus
  • Basic degree of computer proficiency, including MS Office, and the ability to learn additional tools
  • Above average math skills, as well as the ability to measure and calculate precisely
  • Ability to think methodically, prioritize, and follow up on multiple tasks
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or on a small team
  • Experience troubleshooting assemblies for rework and/or repair is considered a plus
Physical requirements
  • Regularly required to: stand, walk, sit (sometimes for extended periods); use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, and see
  • Observe, feel, and handle small objects
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; the ability to adjust focus; perform some tasks while using a stereo or digital microscope
  • May be required to wear special personal protective equipment and work inside a Class 1000 cleanroom
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to pass a background check and a drug test

  • Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Occasional overtime; sometimes on the weekend, sometimes on short notice
