Job summary

RTX is seeking an intern in Tucson to support the Electro-Optics (EO) Department on optical design, alignment, and subsystem integration. You will gain hands-on experience across design reviews, production support, and test fixture development while expanding knowledge of telescope and seeker systems.

The role is onsite at RTX's EO facility, with opportunities to learn from experienced engineers and contribute to real-world missions in defense technology.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Optical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related STEM major and actively enrolled through the end of the internship/co-op session.
• Optical design or systems integration and test experience or coursework in optical testing and alignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn and assist on development programs across subsystem architecture, integration, and hardware design.
• Support as mentee and Individual Contributor on program activities.
• Perform optical alignment/testing of telescope assembly processes.
• Conduct EO modeling, simulation, and analysis applications.
• Assist with requirements development, validation, and subsystem trade studies.
• Contribute to design of optical and opto-mechanical seeker systems and test fixtures for missiles.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to troubleshoot and implement root-cause corrective actions.
