Job summary

HyperLight in Cambridge, MA seeks an Electro-Optic Modulator Design Engineer to advance high-speed modulators using RF and optical physics. You will own designs from concept through tapeout and production, collaborating with layout, process, test, and product teams.

The role requires 6+ years in physics/EE or MS/PhD, strong RF/microwave knowledge, and experience with EM simulation tools; excellent communication and hands-on prototyping are valued.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant work experience or an advanced degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• A strong record of independent innovation and technical problem solving.
• Deep intuition for applied physics of devices previously designed.
• Strong understanding of RF, microwave, and/or integrated photonic devices and principles.

Responsibilities

• Own the full development of modulator designs from study to tapeout and production.
• Collaborate with layout, process development, manufacturing, test, and product teams.
• Perform high-frequency RF (>100 GHz) and electro-optic simulations using commercial and in-house tools.
• Develop and implement high-speed test and calibration techniques for characterization.
• Serve as a technical expert within HyperLight throughout the lifecycle of product development.
