Job summary

Whelen Engineering in Chester, CT is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Tech to troubleshoot, repair, and service Whelen Emergency lighting and mechanical siren devices. The role emphasizes diagnosing failures, repairing assemblies, and documenting work in compliance with EH&S and quality standards.

Schedule is Monday–Friday 7:00am–3:30pm. Work includes reading electronic schematics, using test equipment, and performing soldering, with a maximum lift of 35 pounds.

Qualifications

• Must read and write in English.
• Ability to read electronic assemblies and schematic drawings.
• Computer literate and able to learn and use test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting, failure analysis and repair of Whelen Emergency lighting and mechanical siren devices.
• Communicate and document design problems, component failures and initial failures on newly designed product.
• Maintain high work output without sacrificing quality.
• Complete all administrative function relating to documentation of work performed and regulatory requirements.
• Perform revision updates, rework, or repair to drawing specifications using a variety of hand tools, test fixtures, electronic test equipment and soldering equipment.
• Replace broken assemblies and subassemblies and solder as needed.
• Assist with the receiving and shipping of items sent in for service as required.
