Job summary

SIG Combibloc Group Ltd seeks an Electro-Mechanical Technician to support daily equipment operation, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot PLCs, drives, and robotics. You will work across mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to improve reliability and production efficiency.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Associates degree in industrial/electrical maintenance or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Ability to work all shifts and overtime.
  • Previous electro-mechanical technician experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals.
  • Basic math and SPC knowledge is a plus.
  • Follow written and oral instructions.
  • Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to perform visual inspections and read technical materials.
  • Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure conformance to electrical codes and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Provide mechanical and electrical maintenance support.
  • Assist shift maintenance with problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Support PLC programming, VSDs, controls, and mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment.
  • Contribute to preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Maintain maintenance laptop programs and files.
  • Maintain Cognex vision system.
  • Make electrical connections for devices.
  • Transfer files to motor drives, Fanuc robotics, PLC and HMI.
  • Troubleshoot industrial equipment using PLC ladder logic.
  • Read electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics.
  • Support new technology introductions.
  • Display teamwork and communication; safe behaviors.
  • Contribute to capital planning, lean manufacturing and improvements.
  • Report safety problems to supervisor promptly.
  • Perform PMs.
  • Use predictive analysis to identify issues before breakdowns.
  • Conduct breakdown analyses.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Electro Mechanical Technicians support day-to-day operations of all machines, equipment, and areas of the facility. They also perform preventive and predictive maintenance inspections, conduct breakdown analyses, provide technical assistance for solving reliability issues, assist with production equipment upgrades and rebuilds, and fabricate, modify, assemble and repair a variety of production components/assemblies/systems utilizing various machining and metal fabricating equipment and tools. Tech 12 and/or Tech 14 will serve as backup for this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensures strict conformance to all applicable electrical codes & OSHA safety requirements for facility and production equipment, as well as Scholle IPN safety guidelines
  • Provides mechanical and electrical skills in support of routine & preventive maintenance
  • Supports the shift maintenance team in problem solving & troubleshooting efforts
  • Acts as a problem solving & continuous improvement resource for PLC programming, variable speed drives, electrical & pneumatic controls, mechanical systems, etc.
  • Troubleshoots & repairs production machine equipment and systems
  • Provides input to preventive & predictive maintenance efforts to improve overall equipment reliability
  • Effectively maintains maintenance laptop programs & files
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain Cognex vision system
  • Effectively make electrical connection for most electrical devices
  • Successfully transfers electronic files from laptop to motor drives, Fanuc robotics, PLC and/or HMI
  • Effectively troubleshoot industrial equipment utilizing laptop viewing PLC ladder logic
  • Capable of interpreting electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, & mechanical schematics for troubleshooting
  • Effectively troubleshoot all industrial systems, such as electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, & mechanical
  • Effectively utilizes electronic test equipment in troubleshooting, such as a Multimeter, Oscilloscope, megger, circuit tracer, etc.
  • Provides support of departmental standards for sanitation & housekeeping
  • Supports the introduction of new technology
  • Displays strong teamwork & communication skills with a hands-on, positive style
  • Models safe behaviors at all times
  • Contributes ideas & support to capital planning, lean manufacturing, & continuous improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for reporting food/product safety problems or risks to a supervisor or manager immediately, or take action if possible
  • Perform PM’s
  • Utilize predictive analysis tools to identify and correct issues before they cause machine breakdowns
  • Conduct breakdown analyses
  • Other duties as assigned
YOU BRING THESE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
  • EDUCATION:
    • High school diploma or G.E.D required.
    • Associates Degree in Industrial or Electrical Maintenance, Vocational Training Program, or equivalent work experience.
  • SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
    • Ability to work all shifts and perform overtime
    • Previous experience as an Electro-Mechanical technician preferred.
    • Future training and/or education may be necessary to further job skills.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and Power Point presentations. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units or measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate mean, median, and mode, and apply SPC to the quality processes
    • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
    • Basic skill knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel, and Virtual Client to perform effectively in daily activities
    • Ability to perform visual inspection process and successfully read and apply technical material including print specifications
    • Ability to solve problems by identifying root causes and developing alternative solutions.
