Job summary

Mayville Engineering Company, Inc. is seeking a qualified technician to oversee the installation, modification, and maintenance of equipment in Byron Township, Michigan. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in electromechanical systems, including programming and troubleshooting of PLCs.

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Establishes standards and policies for installation, modification, testing, operating procedures, inspection, and maintenance of equipment according to engineering principles and safety regulations.
  2. Programs, troubleshoots, and maintains PLCs (programmable logic controllers) and other forms of industrial automation.
  3. Provides technical support to other departments regarding process and/or equipment changes.
  4. Installs wiring circuits, switches, controls, and other electronic devices in accordance with specifications.
  5. Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems and makes necessary repairs in a timely fashion to reduce downtime.
  6. Identifies areas where operations can be improved and made more efficient. Carries out solutions to repair or upgrade equipment for improved operations.
  7. Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.
  8. Performs lock out/tag out procedures, utilizes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and adheres to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and guidelines.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Some physical demand. Often lifts light to heavy‑weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11‑27 kgs) material.
  • Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and/or reaching over a full work shift (8‑12 hours).
  • Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8‑12 hours).
  • Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8‑12 hours).
  • May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8‑12 hours).
  • Assists Plant Manager in off‑hours maintenance calls as needed.
Qualifications

Education: Associates (required). Technical/other training (required).

Experience: Five years professional electromechanical experience in the manufacturing industry. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered (preferred).
