Job Overview

The position reports to the Hammond field office and covers areas from Manhattan, IL to Irwin, IL, with occasional support as far north as Hammond, IN, and south to Decatur, IL. Candidates should ideally reside near Kankakee. The work schedule is typically Monday–Friday, with weekends and holidays on an on-call rotation involving 7 days every other week, covering various locations including Decatur, IL.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, test, and assist in the installation and removal of electrical, mechanical, communication, control, and measurement equipment at assigned locations.
• Perform operations, maintenance, and construction tasks to ensure safe pipeline operations and compliance with all standards and regulations.
• Follow safety protocols, use protective equipment, and report hazards or incidents.
• Test and inspect equipment, monitor performance, and maintain records.
• Manage spare parts inventory, tools, and company vehicle.
• Recommend design changes, provide technical guidance, and liaise with factory representatives.
• Install equipment modifications, work with contractors on right-of-way issues, and act as inspector for outside projects.
• Assist in training new technicians and perform additional duties as assigned.
• Maintain pipeline and facility cleanliness and appearance.

Requirements

Education & Experience

Associate’s degree in electronics, electrical, instrumentation, or equivalent experience. Prior experience in operations/maintenance or electronics/mechanics preferred.

Skills & Abilities

• Strong safety awareness and adherence to safety procedures.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements (DOT, OSHA, EPA, FERC, DHS).
• Understanding of system operations, pipeline layouts, and equipment.
• Ability to work independently, analyze data, and troubleshoot electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Proficient with tools, computer hardware/software, and physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Physical & Other Requirements

Must be able to exert force up to 70 pounds, operate machinery, and perform visual inspections. Normal color vision and hearing are required.
