Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking an Engineering Technologist to maintain, optimize, and improve manufacturing and production equipment to maximize uptime, safety, and performance. This external-hire role supports cross-functional teams and coordinates with engineers to implement new technologies while ensuring facility and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Participation in preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving equipment malfunctions; upgrading and modifying equipment.
• Experience with configuration management or change management.
• Compliance with safety and operational standards, including Lockout/Tagout.
• Design, planning, and execution of maintenance plans.
• Experience maintaining electromechanical and/or pressure systems.
• Ability to contribute independently in high-intensity environments and communicate with coworkers of diverse technical backgrounds.
• Ability to present detailed ideas clearly in presentations/publications.
• Experience applying continuous improvement concepts and tools.

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain, and enhance electro-mechanical equipment.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams for maintenance and project activities.
• Lead development of work authorizations and ensure safe, compliant operations.
