Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a motivated Research Tech 1 to provide technical support for electronics laboratories and shops in the Safeguards Science and Technology Group. The role centers on implementing and developing a new electronic inventory system while learning electronics assembly, cable fabrication, testing, and procurement processes.

You will work with engineers and technicians to identify and catalog components, label and store items, and maintain accurate records.

• Demonstrated ability to organize materials and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to perform repetitive inventory and documentation activities carefully.
• Basic experience using computers and standard software.
• Ability to learn and follow detailed written or verbal instructions and use common hand tools.
• Ability to accurately record work activities, procedures, equipment, parameters, findings, and other information.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with engineers, scientists, technicians, and staff.

• Willingness to develop knowledge in electronics, inventory management, and shop operations.

Mansioni

• Locate and identify electronic components, PCBs, equipment, tools, and shop supplies.
• Enter and maintain item descriptions, quantities, storage locations, part numbers in the inventory system.
• Label, organize, and store inventory for efficient retrieval and replenishment.
• Perform inventory verification and stock-level reviews and correct records under direction.
• Help establish consistent storage, labeling, and material-handling practices across shops.
• Assemble component kits and prepare parts, cables, and equipment for projects.
• Assemble basic mechanical and electronic equipment using hand tools and drawings per instructions.
• Fabricate and test basic cable assemblies including wiring, connectors, crimping, soldering, labeling, and testing.
• Support testing, troubleshooting, repair, modification, and maintenance of equipment under supervision.
• Assist with purchasing, receiving, inspecting, and tracking components and supplies.
