Job summary

Detroit Salt Company is seeking a packaging line technician to help operate and maintain our packaging line, ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality bagging operations. You will troubleshoot issues, support the supervisor, and help train team members to uphold production standards.

The role requires mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic expertise, with experience in robotics and automated packaging equipment. Overtime and weekend shifts may be required, in a fast-paced facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years’ experience maintaining the operation of a packaging line.
• Operational expertise in running a packaging line with mechanics and electricians.
• HMI and PLC line experience.
• Background in pneumatics actuated packaging machine operations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Must be familiar with electrical codes and procedures.
• Experience with robotic operations and repair.
• Experience with maintenance of complex automated machines conveyors, robotics, packaging equipment, etc.
• Willing to work on all aspects of automation; electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical.
• Experience working in a fast-paced production environment.
• Demonstrates attention to detail and professionalism.
• Ability to cover other shifts and weekends as needed.
• Ability to work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the packaging line to meet daily quotas.
• Troubleshoot and repair packaging line to keep production safe and within quality standards.
• Assist supervisor in training packaging staff and resolving equipment issues.
• Ensure consistent quality of packaged products before export.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Adapt techniques based on additives and operating conditions.
• Support cross-department needs to facilitate additional work.
• Meet daily quotas and maintain professional conduct.
