Job summary

By Light Professional IT Services is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Assembler to build sub and higher-level electro-mechanical assemblies per IPC 620 standards. You will follow written instructions and drawings, assemble using power and hand tools, and verify quality with test equipment.

IPC certifications, wire routing, soldering, and crimping skills are essential as is the ability to read technical drawings.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Willingness to learn crimping, soldering, electro-mechanical assembly build, and read/interprete drawings.
  • IPC certifications expected within six months and IPC 620 certification already obtained.

Responsibilities

  • Apply mechanical knowledge to perform routine tasks.
  • Proven ability to operate power and hand tools used in an Electro/Mechanical environment.
  • Ability to accurately complete sub and higher-level assembly builds from drawings and work instructions.
  • Capable of completing assembly builds on basic to moderate 1st article assemblies to IPC workmanship standards.
  • Ability to pass and retain IPC certifications for the latest revision of 620 & J standards.
  • Ability to solder and perform crimping with small gauge wire.
  • Moderate level of computer proficiency.
  • Capable of troubleshooting electro and mechanical failure modes.
  • Use test equipment to validate product quality and reliability.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement culture and Lean metric reporting.
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Position Overview

Accurate assembly of sub electro and mechanical components for builds into higher level assemblies; build multi-level assemblies according to written instructions, drawings and visual aids that comply with IPC standards and By Light workmanship requirements. Network, installation and integration of multi-level assemblies through final completion of By Light's product offerings.

  • Ability to accurately complete sub and higher-level assembly builds working from moderate to complex drawings and work instruction.
  • Must be capable of effectively completing assembly builds on fundamental to moderate 1st article assemblies building to By Light's quality, IPC workmanship standards, and best practices.
  • Ability to complete and pass and retain IPC certifications for the latest revision of 620 & J standards.
  • Ability to solder and perform crimping processes with small gauge wire.
  • Moderate level of computer proficiency.
  • Capable of troubleshooting electro and mechanical failure modes.
  • Ability to use test equipment to validate product quality and reliability.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement culture and Lean metric reporting. Actively participate in continuous improvement events driving improvement opportunities in products and processes.
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Required Experience/Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED), ability to complete on the job training and perform well in a capabilities’ evaluation.
  • Has worked as a Mechanical Assembler I or Mechanical Assembler II for a minimum of 3-12 months
  • Must have beginning to moderate wire routing experience using IPC 620 standards
  • Must have successfully built electro/mechanical assemblies using workmanship standards
  • Must have indepth knowledge of By Light Port Orange’s build processes and standards
  • Willingness to learn crimping, soldering, electro-mechanical assembly build, and read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Must be able to pass and retain IPC certifications for the latest revision J standards within the first 6 months of attaining position
  • Must have passed IPC 620 certification
Preferred Experience/Qualifications
  • Previous IPC certifications, wiring experience
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is regularly required to sit and occasionally climb or balance; use hands to touch, use hands and arms to reach forward and overhead. The employee must frequently lift up to 35 pounds unassisted, and occasionally assist moving up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include color, close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. May be required to work with hazardous materials. The work environment is frequently performed in a climate-controlled environment and occasionally in a non-climate-controlled setting. The employee may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is considered low to moderate in the manufacturing area.
