HX5, LLC in Brook Park, Ohio, supporting NASA Glenn Research Center, seeks a Mechanical Engineer I to aid electrified propulsion controls research. You will help develop a micro-turbojet engine controller, connect actuators, and verify safety and repeatability under NASA procedures.

The role requires MATLAB/Simulink expertise, familiarity with SOLIDWORKS and Thermal Desktop, and ability to work independently while collaborating with NASA teams on fuel-to-electric conversion for aero propulsion

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 0–2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient in Matlab and Simulink.
• Familiar with SOLIDWORKS, Thermal Desktop, and gas turbine concepts.
• Experience with electrified powertrain modeling and thermal management for electrified aircraft.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to work independently and collaborate with NASA.

Responsibilities

• Develop a controller for a micro-turbojet engine.
• Connect and test actuators and controller of a micro-turbojet engine.
• Ensure functionality, safety and repeatability of actuators and controller.
• Assist in building a test cell control system for small-scale fuel-to-electric research.
