Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in marine/shipyard/industrial electrical field.
• Ability to read and interpret marine drawings and/or blueprints.
• Read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of electrical test equipment and safe testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Test, verify, and troubleshoot shipboard electrical systems across construction phases.
• Perform wiring continuity verification and functional testing of power and lighting systems.
• Operate electrical test equipment including voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, power analyzers and megohmmeters.
• Test high‑voltage systems including 480V and 4160V distribution equipment.
• Inspect and troubleshoot motor controls, transformers, power panels, switchboards, and PLC‑based systems.
• Support testing of radar, sonar, communications, propulsion, and navigation equipment.
• Read marine blueprints and wiring diagrams to ensure testing procedures.
• Work in active shipyard environments with heights, confined spaces, and varying conditions.
• Follow safety procedures meeting industry standards.

What You’ll Do

• Test, verify, and troubleshoot shipboard electrical systems to ensure proper operation across all phases of construction.
• Perform phoning, circuit continuity verification, and functional testing of power and lighting systems.
• Operate and interpret results from electrical test equipment, including voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, megohmmeters, power analyzers, and other diagnostic tools.
• Test and validate high‑voltage systems including 480V and 4160V power distribution equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and verify the functionality of motor controls, transformers, power panels, switchboards, and PLC‑based control systems.
• Support testing of electronic and fiber‑optic systems such as radar, sonar, communications, propulsion, and navigation equipment.
• Read and interpret marine blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals to ensure accurate testing procedures.
• Work in active shipyard environments involving heights, confined spaces, and variable conditions.
• Follow safety procedures that meet — and often exceed — industry standards.

• Proven experience testing and troubleshooting shipboard or industrial electrical systems

• Familiarity with both standard and metric measurement systems

Must Have

• Minimum 4 years of experience in the marine, shipyard, or industrial electrical field.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret marine drawings and/or blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements.

• Strong working knowledge of electrical test equipment, including:
