Job summary

Navy Exchange Service Command in Hagåtna, Guam, is seeking an Electrician (BE7 Department) to perform installation, modification, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.

The electrician will troubleshoot and repair wiring, switches, panels, fixtures, motors, and related equipment, following schedules and work orders. Physical duties and safety requirements apply.

This position requires five years of specialized experience and one year of general experience; substitution rules apply.

Qualifications

• One year of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform basic electrical work such as repairing electrical wiring systems and switches etc.
• One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.
• Five years of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform a full range of electrician functions in connection with installation modification and or repair of electrical systems and electrically operated equipment etc.
• Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions where parts of systems are in hard-to-reach places. Frequently lifts carries and sets up tools equipment and parts weighing up to 20 pounds

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, installs, maintains and repairs electrical wiring systems related switches, switch gear, distribution panels and outlet boxes, circuits as well as wide variety of electrical fixtures, motors and electrically operated equipment.
• Follows maintenance schedule and inspections or work orders, performs maintenance services, diagnoses system or equipment malfunction and repairs as necessary.
• Inspects, maintains, cleans, repairs, tests and adjusts electrical buzzer and bell circuits, light sockets, lighting fixtures, fans, switches, outlets and power sources.
• Tests circuits and equipment by use of voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, megger and ohmmeter.
• Measures, cuts, threads, bends, assembles and installs conduits, inserting splicing and connecting wires to fixtures, outlets, switches and receptacles.
