Job summary

Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) in Norfolk, VA is seeking an electrician to perform the full range of installation, modification and repair of Navy Exchange electrical systems and electrically operated equipment.

The successful candidate will troubleshoot, inspect, test and repair wiring, switches, panels, outlets and related fixtures, and carry out preventive maintenance as scheduled in a safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic electrical work such as repairing wiring and switches.
• Five years of experience performing a full range of electrician functions in installation, modification and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
• One year of high school education may substitute for 3 months of general experience.
• Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and lifting up to 20 pounds as part of job duties.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, installs, maintains and repairs electrical wiring systems, switches, panels, outlets and related fixtures and equipment.
• Tests circuits and equipment and inspects, cleans and adjusts electrical components to ensure proper operation.
