Job summary

ENGIE North America and the University of Iowa partner to provide essential electrical services for the campus utility and central plant systems. The Electrician II will perform skilled electrical work, maintain infrastructure serving hospitals, research, athletics, and classrooms, and support high-voltage distribution.

This year-round, full-time on-site position offers 40 hours weekly with no routine overnight travel, reporting to the High Voltage Shop Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current journey-level electrician license issued by Iowa or reciprocal with Iowa eligibility.
• At least 2 years of hands-on journey-level electrical experience.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards and electrical hazards.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, equipment, controls, lighting, and instrumentation across campus utility and production environments.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on switchgear, breakers, motors, MCCs, VFDs, and related equipment.
• Support operation and testing of medium-voltage systems (600V–15kV) under supervision.
• Read blueprints and diagrams to plan work and document maintenance per procedures.
• Coordinate outages and document activities; participate in on-call rotations.
