Job summary

Iowa State University seeks a skilled Electrician II to maintain and repair campus electrical systems up to 600V. The role requires a state Journeyman license (Class A or B) and extensive field experience, along with a valid driver’s license for campus operations.

Responsibilities include installing and maintaining lighting, power distribution, VFDs, and meters, reading schematics, and supporting the Utilities department with preventive maintenance and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Requires State of Iowa Class A or B Journeyman license with required experience as described.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet University’s Fleet Safety Program.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair campus site lighting and low-voltage power distribution.
• Install conduit, cable, switchboards, panels, and circuit breakers.
• Perform maintenance and installation of variable frequency drives, campus mass warning signals, and electrical meters.
• Read and interpret schematics, drawings, and instruction books.
• Coordinate with Utility Services and High Voltage staff as needed.
