Job summary

CJ Schwan's in Kentucky is seeking a maintenance technician for the 3rd shift to perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot on conveyor systems and food production machinery, ensuring reliable operation and minimizing downtime.

The role covers complex mechanical repairs, equipment setup and welding/fabrication, plus use of precision instruments. SAP is used to document work orders and coordinate with production, with opportunities for growth in a food-manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; two-year degree in specialized maintenance trade preferred.
• 3+ years of related experience.
• Work different ranges of hours such as full-time, overtime, or weekend shifts.
• Basic to advanced mechanical knowledge, electrical and building skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct advanced preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyor systems and food production machinery to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
• Perform complex mechanical repairs including shaft keying, sprocket broaching, gear head replacement, stainless steel welding, hydraulic hose fabrication, and belt maintenance using specialized tools and equipment.
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, welding, fabrication, and installation of new or modified plant machinery to support production needs.
• Diagnose mechanical issues through observation, auditory assessment, and use of precision measuring instruments, and effectively identifying and resolving root causes.
• Utilize SAP software to document maintenance activities, track work orders, and communicate effectively with production and operations teams to optimize workflow.

Job description

Starting Pay: $32.50 per hour
Additional $1.50 shift differential from 6 p.m. -- 6 a.m.
