Job summary

King County Parks is seeking an Electrician I to join our Parks Crafts Crew in Renton. This hands-on role supports community spaces from athletic fields to public facilities, focusing on maintenance, repairs, and new installations with safety and quality at the forefront.

You will diagnose electrical problems, read drawings, coordinate with other trades, and document work orders. The position offers full-time hours with union support from IBEW Local 46 and opportunities to expand skills across

Qualifications

• WA General Journey-Level Electrician (EL01) license required.
• Experience maintaining, installing, and troubleshooting commercial/industrial electrical systems.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, safe work practices, and testing equipment.
• Experience reading electrical drawings and manuals.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems; know when to ask for help.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain electrical systems and equipment.
• Maintain interior and exterior lighting, including athletic fields, pathways, parking lots, and buildings.
• Work on electrical panels, wiring, conduit, motors, pumps, HVAC equipment, and control systems.
• Maintain generators, transfer switches, emergency power, UPS, solar, battery storage, and EV charging systems.
• Perform scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance to identify problems before equipment fails.
• Read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
• Identify the cause of electrical issues and verify repairs are safe and working properly.
• Coordinate work with other trades, contractors, vendors, supervisors, and County departments.
• Document labor, materials, repairs, inspections, and equipment conditions in electronic work-order system.
• Follow electrical codes, County requirements, and safety procedures.
• Communicate with staff and the public and respond to urgent electrical problems as assigned.
