Job summary

King County Parks is seeking an Electrician I to support the Parks Crafts Crew in maintaining and upgrading electrical systems across parks facilities and public spaces. The role involves hands-on troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and new installations to keep lighting, power, and safety systems reliable.

The ideal candidate will have journey-level electrical credentials, experience with commercial/industrial systems, and a commitment to safety while working in diverse environments,

Qualifications

• Current Washington State General Journey-Level Electrician (EL01) license is required.
• Hands-on experience maintaining, installing, and troubleshooting commercial or industrial electrical systems.
• Working knowledge of electrical codes, safe work practices, and electrical testing equipment.
• Experience reading electrical drawings and equipment manuals.
• Ability to work independently, solve problems, and recognize when assistance is needed.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain electrical systems and equipment.
• Maintain interior and exterior lighting, including athletic fields, pathways, parking lots, and buildings.
• Work on electrical panels, wiring, conduit, motors, pumps, HVAC equipment, and control systems.
• Maintain generators, transfer switches, emergency power, UPS, solar, battery storage, and EV charging systems.
• Perform scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance to identify problems before equipment fails.
• Read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
