Job summary

University of Houston is seeking a Facilities Operations and Maintenance team member to assist journey electricians with installing and repairing electrical wiring, fixtures and equipment. Description

Assists journey electrician in the installation and repair ofelectrical wiring, fixtures and equipment. Pursuant to the State ofTexas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, workson, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires theability to maintain the security or integrity of the Universityinfrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinelyreviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuousconnections for the government or political apparatus of a foreignadversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintainthe security or integrity of the infrastructure.

1. 1. Gathers tools and supplies to be used at work site, accordingto instructions.
2. 2. Measures, cuts and bends wire and conduit, using ruler andhand tools.
3. 3. Drills holes for wiring and pulls or pushes wiring throughopening.
4. 4. Assists in lifting, positioning and fastening objects, suchas wiring, conduit and motors.
5. 5. Performs minor electrical repairs, such as replacing fuses,light sockets, bulbs and switches.
6. 6. Maintains tools and equipment and keeps supplies and parts inorder.
7. 7. May be assigned to serve on special task force during periodsof emergency, such as floods, storms, hurricanes, etc.
8. 8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or GED Required

MQ: Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuationand simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. asmight normally be acquired through attainment of a high schooldiploma or GED. Education verification will be conducted uponacceptance of an employment offer.

No experience is required.
