Texas Southern University invites applications for an Electrical Apprentice position. This on-campus role supports Journeyman and Maintenance Electricians in routine maintenance, installation and repair of electrical systems across university facilities.
Responsibilities include testing and repairing equipment, wiring and components, wiring low-voltage lines for controls, motors, and lighting, and estimating materials while tracking time.
ELECTRICAL APPRENTICE
Under general supervision assists to perform routine maintenance on campus grounds through support of Journeyman and / or Maintenance Electricians in the maintenance, operation, and repair of systems. Assist in the install maintain the wiring and components that keep electricity flowing throughout the university campus. Similarly, set up low-voltage wires that run computers, control systems, lighting, motors, pumps, and other electrical related systems.
FTE: 2.0 Hiring Range: $21.87-$33.90
Education: High school diploma or GED required
Required Licensing/Certification: Requires Apprentice Electrician’s License
Preferred: In process to test for Journeyman’s License

Three (3) years previous electrical repair experience, including one (1) year experience in plant operations.
