Job summary

sg360° in Illinois seeks a dependable Electrician to join our union team. You will install, repair, and maintain electrical/electronic equipment used in production to maximize uptime and efficiency.

Ideal candidates have an Associate Degree in Electronics or a State Electrical license, or 5+ years of electrical repair in print manufacturing. Read blueprints, diagnose PLCs, and perform preventive maintenance to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Must read and understand written instructions.
• Strong knowledge of mathematics including fractions and decimals.
• Know electrical theory, NEC, and electrical safety practices.
• Strong PLC diagnostics knowledge (Siemens/AB).
• Experience with printing presses or similar equipment preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics; use measuring devices.
• Proficient with PC and maintenance management systems.
• Use hand and power tools and calibration equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain electrical/electronic equipment used in production.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform repairs to minimize downtime.
• Relocate existing machines and wiring as needed; modify components.
• Interpret ladder diagrams and software to improve equipment function.
• Perform preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facilities.
• Inventory parts and compile lists for ordering; submit to supervisor.
• Complete paperwork and records related to maintenance duties.
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Install, repair, rebuild, and maintain electrical/electronic equipment used in production or other related services, maximizing production time and minimizing down time.
• Troubleshoot electrical/electronic equipment malfunctions or operating problems and make repairs or adjustments as necessary to keep equipment in production.
• Perform various activities relative to the installation and relocation of existing machines and equipment which may involve electrical wiring, electrical components or electronic instrumentation.
• Ability to utilize electrical ladder diagrams, electronic circuitry diagrams, and software programs to modify, repair, or improve equipment functionality.
• Perform maintenance on buildings, facilities, and the grounds.
• Perform all necessary preventative maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment, other electrical/electronic equipment, buildings, and grounds.
• Perform work and duties to meet our production needs and to provide superior customer satisfaction.
• Inventory parts and supplies and compile parts list needed to complete rebuilding and repair activities on equipment and submit list to the supervisor so that parts may be ordered.
• Complete and maintain all necessary paperwork, records, documents, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be able to read and understand written instructions.
• Strong knowledge in mathematical calculations including common fractions, decimals, and various units of measure.
• Must have a good knowledge of electrical/electronic theory, the national electrical code, the local electrical code and electrical safety practices.
• Strong knowledge in the electronic diagnostics of PLC's, AC/DC drive systems and various types of computer operated control circuitry (Siemens and Allen Bradley).
• Experience with web offset printing presses (Goss/Heidelberg -M1000B, M1000BE, M600, M110, print units, or similar equipment is preferred.
• Requires the ability to read and work from blueprints, schematics, circuit diagrams and use precision measuring devices.
• Demonstrate proficiency utilizing a personal computer, order parts and materials by using appropriate company purchasing requirements including computerized maintenance management systems.
• Utilize a variety of tools such as: hand tools, power tools, electrical/electronic test equipment and calibration equipment.
• Requires the ability to obtain a forklift operator’s certification.

Education/Experience:

• Associate Degree in Electronics or related field, a State Electrical license, or a minimum of 5 years of electrical / electronic repair experience in a print manufacturing environment is preferred

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

• Must be able to lift and/or carry 65 pounds.
• Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel or crouch for job.May be exposed to hot/humid and/or dusty work environment.
• May be exposed to controlled non-toxic mists or vapors.

Travel:

Minimal local travel may be required for meetings, trainings, and/or other business purposes .
