Position Overview
A large, global industrial manufacturer operating a continuous-process facility in the southeastern United States is seeking a Maintenance Electrician. This role supports plant operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electrical and electronic systems in a heavy industrial environment.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, self-directed, and experienced in industrial electrical maintenance within manufacturing or process-driven facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, inspection, and repair of industrial equipment
- Work safely with motors, generators, transformers, rectifiers, switches, circuit breakers, relays, and power distribution systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
- Use electrical testing and measuring equipment and standard maintenance tools
- Support preventive maintenance (PM) programs and emergency breakdown response
- Operate cranes, mobile equipment, and scaffolding as required
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders using a CMMS
- Work independently on shift and collaborate with maintenance and operations teams
- Participate in safety programs and adhere to PPE and plant safety protocols
- Assist with parts inventory, planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in overtime, call-ins, outages, and rotating shifts as needed
Shift Maintenance Responsibilities
- Work safely when performing tasks independently
- Support other maintenance personnel to reduce production downtime
- Prioritize and respond to multiple work requests during shift
- Assess non-routine breakdowns and escalate for additional support when required
- Provide detailed turnover communication between shifts
- Follow established maintenance processes, including proper tagging, documentation, and material handling
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience
- Experience in manufacturing, metals, mining, cement, paper, chemical, power generation, or similar heavy industrial environments
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems up to 480V
- Strong understanding of industrial safety practices (LOTO, PPE, arc flash awareness)
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed electrical apprenticeship or formal trade training
- Experience with continuous-process operations
- Exposure to PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, or industrial controls
- CMMS experience (Oracle or similar systems)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Lift and carry tools and equipment up to 50 lbs
- Climb ladders and scaffolding as needed
- Perform tasks requiring bending, reaching, kneeling, and manual dexterity
- Work in industrial plant conditions
