The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is looking for an experienced Electrician to join the Field Operations Facilities team in West Chicago, IL. This position involves maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing electrical equipment while supporting the mission of the forest preserve.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of experience as a journeyman Electrician.
• Ability to obtain a valid Electrical License within 6 months.
• Valid Class C Driver's License in good standing within 6 months.
• Must pass medical evaluation and fit test as per OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical equipment.
• Serve as a lead tradesperson in varying settings.
• Travel throughout the district as required.

Job description

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is seeking an Electrician to join our Field Operations Facilities team located in West Chicago, IL. This role is a great opportunity to join a skilled, supportive team dedicated to high-quality work and the larger mission of the forest preserve. The position will maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and replace various electrical equipment and serve as a lead tradesperson in a unique setting.

Compensation

$33.37 to $37.33 per hour, depending on experience. This position is governed by a Collective Bargaining agreement. For more information on the agreement please see Transparency Portal

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled, experienced electrician with 4-6 years of related experience to join the Facilities team. Experience with Variable Frequency Drives and solar photovoltaic systems is preferred. This position works in a variety of different settings and will require travel throughout the district.

Schedule

Schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, some evening and weekend work may be required.

Key Qualifications

• Skilled Trades & Technical Training; 4-6 years of related experience as a journeyman skill level Electrician; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid Electrical License covering National Electrical Code for residential, commercial and industrial installations recognized by DuPage County, or ability to obtain such license within 6 months of hire.
• Valid Driver's License in good standing; Class C Driver's License required within 6 months in good standing.
• Must pass a medical evaluation and fit test, per OSHA regulations, to ensure a respirator can be safely worn when required.
• OSHA 10-hour 1926 training and confined spaces training within 6 months of employment.
