Job summary

Tlingit Haida Tribal Business Corporation (THTBC) seeks an Electrician in North Charleston, SC to install, maintain and repair electrical systems in support of mission-critical operations. The role requires knowledge of codes, a Journeyman license, and the ability to work safely with complex electrical equipment.

You’ll work with tests equipment, conduits, and distribution panels, follow maintenance schedules, and participate in on-site safety programs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of national and local electrical codes; Journeyman Electrical license SC required.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and appliances for electrical work.
• Ability to follow maintenance instructions, schedules and inspect work orders.
• Diagnose systems or equipment malfunctions and perform repairs as needed.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and controls.
• Plan, lay out, and complete installations, modifications and repairs of electrical systems.
• Within 90 days of start, pursue manufacturer certification on major electrical systems (UPS and emergency generator).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams; use test equipment.
• Commitment to worksite safety and maintaining security clearance.
• Valid state driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

About the Role

The Electrician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring systems, switches, distribution panels outlet boxes, and a wide variety of electrical fixtures.

What You'll Be Doing

• Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring systems, switches, distribution panels and outlet boxes, and a wide variety of electrical fixtures.
• Inspects, maintains, cleans, repairs, tests, and adjusts a variety of electrical equipment, circuitry, and fixtures.
• Electrical equipment that shall require maintenance and repairs includes electrical buzzer and bell circuits, lighting circuits, light fixtures, air movement fans, switches, heating and air-conditioning equipment and machinery, fire alarm systems (preventive maintenance only), master clocks, rheostats, thermostats, and electrical drills, grinders, and other related electrical shop equipment.
• Tests circuits and equipment by use of voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, and ohmmeter. Electrical circuits include voltage up to 600 volts, 3 phase current.
• Measures, cuts, threads, bends, assembles, and installs conduits, inserts, splicing and connecting wires to fixtures, outlets, switches, receptacles, and power source.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• Must be knowledgeable of national and local electrical codes and have a valid Journeyman Electrical license issued by any municipality in the State of South Carolina.
• Must be able to use hand tools, power tools, and appliances needed for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical circuits, related fixtures, and hardware.
• Must be able to follow maintenance instructions, schedules and inspection of work orders and other job assignments.
• Incumbent must be able to perform maintenance services, diagnose systems or equipment malfunctions, and complete repairs when required.
• Incumbent must have knowledge of the composition, operation, and installation of a variety of electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and controls.
• Must be able to plan, lay out and complete the installation, modification and repair of various electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and controls.
• Within ninety (90) days of the contract start date, the contractor must initiate the attendance to gain certification (passing) through the manufacturer on major electrical systems, in particular Uninterrupted Power Supply and Emergency Generator to better understand the basic operational components and troubleshooting techniques of that equipment.
• Must be able to interpret and apply building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings. Must be skilled in the use of a wide variety of test equipment such as voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, and ohmmeter.
• Must have knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, standing, and reaching for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
• Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.
