Job summary

The General Laborer role at Tlingit Haida Tribal Business Corporation (THTBC) supports a wide range of field and shop tasks, from site preparation to material handling and cleaning. You will perform labor tasks that contribute to mission-critical operations across our facilities, with safety paramount.

3rd shift, 4:00 PM–12:45 AM in Blackstone, VA, you’ll work with a team under a collective bargaining agreement, earning $20.99 per hour plus shift differentials on other shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain interim secret clearance.
• Basic knowledge of custodial, recycling, and working with hazardous materials.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Loads and unloads trucks and other conveyances.
• Moves supplies and materials using wheelbarrow or hand truck.
• Stacks materials for storage or binning.
• Cleans and maintains work areas to safety standards.
• Operates light equipment and repairs as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Labor Category: Non-Exempt | CBA

Clearance Level: Secret

Pay Rate: $20.99 per hour

Health & Welfare: $8.00 per hour

Hours: 3rd shift – Monday through Friday, 4:00 PM – 12:45 AM

Shift Assignments are at the discretion of site management:

• 1st shift –base hourly rate.
• 2nd shift – base hourly rate plus a 5% shift differential.
• 3rd shift – base hourly rate plus a 10% shift differential.

About the Role

The General Laborer performs general work as assigned.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances.
• Moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck.
• Stacks materials for storage or binning.
• Collects refuse and salvageable materials, and digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations.
• The Laborer levels ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake.
• Shovels concrete and snow.
• Cleans culverts and ditches.
• Cuts trees and brush.
• Operates power lawnmowers.
• Moves and arranges heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, and appliances.
• Moves heavy pieces of automotive, medical engineering, and other types of machinery and equipment.
• Spreads sand and salt on icy roads and walkways.
• Picks up leaves and trash.
• Clean firing range live fire shoot house, explosive pads, and other assigned facilities including removing all brass, vehicle debris, cleaning all surfaces of debris.
• Cleaning to acceptable health and safety levels surfaces and areas for lead, gunpowder, and frangible ammo.
• Responsible for cleaning of bullet traps.
• Replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
• Using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
• Repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
• Painting structures and equipment.
• Repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

• Ability to obtain and maintain interim secret clearance.
• Must have a basic knowledge of custodial, recycling, and working with hazardous materials.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.
• Physical requirements include the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
• Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards.

US Pay Range

$20.99 – $20.99 USD
