Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking an experienced Electrician to install, maintain and repair wiring systems and electrical equipment. You will read schematics, diagrams and blueprints to troubleshoot and repair.

The role requires 1 year of post-secondary training, and a Journeyman's license by year one for VA, with a rotating weekend on-call schedule and on-site work at a major tertiary facility.

Qualifications

  • 1 year post-secondary/vocational training in electrical theory, circuitry, codes, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with NEC and Statewide Building Code.
  • Journeyman's Electrician's License must be attained by year one for VA.
  • On-site at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, VA.

Responsibilities

Overview:
Electrician

The Electrician is experienced in industrial or institutional wiring, preventative maintenance and has a strong background in troubleshooting and repair. This individual installs, maintains and repairs wiring systems, circuits, electrical fixtures and electrical equipment using schematics, diagrams, blueprints. Responsibilities include conducting operational tests of the electrical systems; following operational and departmental guidelines; and for meeting all regulatory and compliance requirements.

Some facilities require Master Electrician (MELE). 1 year post-secondary/vocational training in electrical theory, circuitry, codes, and troubleshooting with courses in blueprint reading mechanical drawing, mathematics, electrical theory, and electrical work. Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC) and the Statewide Building Code.

Journeyman's Electrician's License must be attained by the end of the first year of employment for those in Virginia

Position is On -Site at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk (Virginia)

Candidate must live within a 30 minute return to Hospital

Mission Essential Personnel. Must be able to work rotating weekends, on call as required

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $34.27 - $51.22 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School.
