Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking an Electrician with strong troubleshooting skills and a solid background in maintenance of electrical systems. The role involves wiring, testing and repairs using schematics, blueprints and codes, with weekend/on-call rotation as needed.

The position requires 1 year of relevant training, a Journeyman license by year end, and an eligible VA/NC driver's license. Competitive pay and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

  • 1-year post-secondary/vocational training in electrical theory, circuitry, codes, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC) and the Statewide Building Code.
  • Journeyman's Electrician's License must be attained by end of year 1 for Virginia.
  • High School or trade school diploma is required.
  • VA or NC driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair wiring systems, circuits, electrical fixtures and equipment using schematics and blueprints.
  • Conduct operational tests of electrical systems and ensure compliance with guidelines.
  • On-site at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, VA; rotating weekends and on-call as required.

This individual installs, maintains and repairs wiring systems, circuits, electrical fixtures and electrical equipment using schematics, diagrams, blueprints. Responsibilities include conducting operational tests of the electrical systems; following operational and departmental guidelines; and for meeting all regulatory and compliance requirements.Some facilities require Master Electrician (MELE). 1 year post-secondary/vocational training in electrical theory, circuitry, codes, and troubleshooting with courses in blueprint reading mechanical drawing, mathematics, electrical theory, and electrical work. The base pay range for full-time employment is $34.27 - $51.22 hourly. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
