Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA seeks a Mental Health Associate to support nursing care for behavioral health patients. Under RN supervision, you will deliver direct/indirect care, lead groups, and help maintain a safe therapeutic milieu in inpatient and outpatient settings.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, BLS within 90 days, and CPI training within 15 days. Preferred 1 year of Behavioral Health experience and knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Level Degree required.
• Basic Life Support Certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention training required within 15 days of hire.
• 1 year Behavioral Health experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and abnormal human behavior preferred.

Assists with milieu management to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and staff.Department Overview: Sentara offers both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services to patients 18 and older who are in crisis due to mental illness, emotional distress, or destructive behavior patterns. Because our treatment facilities are located within local hospitals, patients have access to the full range of both psychiatric and medical care. This is especially helpful for patients experiencing symptoms that are confusing and impact their physical health. The base pay range for full-time employment is $20.50 - $30.59 hourly.
