ALTEN Technology USA is seeking an experienced Electrical/Wire Harness Integration & Release Engineer to join our engineering team in Auburn Hills, MI. You will support electrical architecture coordination, harness integration, and release management across vehicle programs, collaborating with EE, harness, manufacturing, and program teams to meet program goals.

Job Description:

The Electrical/Wire Harness Integration & Release Engineer will support the integration, development, and release of vehicle electrical and wire harness systems. The role will focus on electrical architecture coordination, harness integration, system specifications, engineering releases, change management, vehicle configuration (PROXI), and early‑stage vehicle build support. The engineer will work closely with Electrical/Electronics (EE), wire harness, vehicle engineering, manufacturing, and program teams to ensure electrical and harness deliverables are completed on schedule and meet vehicle program requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the integration and coordination of vehicle electrical systems and wire harnesses across vehicle programs.
  • Support wire harness and electrical architecture activities, including routing, packaging, interfaces, connectivity, and system integration.
  • Review program timing, product plans, series cards, engineering bulletins, and related documentation and communicate updates to cross‑functional teams.
  • Assist with reviewing investigation bulletins and collaborate with EE and wire harness teams to provide technical feedback.
  • Support management and tracking of electrical and wire harness deliverables throughout the vehicle program.
  • Participate in Post‑2A risk mitigation meetings and support resolution of electrical and harness‑related issues.
  • Support RAR (Red‑Amber‑Red) process activities and track open technical actions.
  • Assist with creating and managing Project Specification Releases, including Source Package, 1A, 2A, and related engineering releases.
  • Support management of Post‑2A Change Request (CR) lists for PWB and wire harness integration activities.
  • Process and track specification and engineering Change Requests using DOORS and other change management systems.
  • Support PROXI/vehicle configuration updates and ensure electrical features are properly configured.
  • Assist with initial development vehicle builds at assembly plants, including identification and resolution of electrical/wire harness issues.
  • Participate in electrical and wire harness issue resolution meetings, vehicle build reviews, and program meetings.
  • Support validation and testing activities related to electrical and wire harness systems.
  • Maintain engineering documentation and communicate program status, risks, and open issues to cross‑functional teams.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of automotive electrical and/or wire harness engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of automotive wire harnesses, electrical architecture, connectors, circuits, and vehicle electrical systems.
  • Experience supporting electrical/wire harness integration, engineering releases, or component/system development.
  • Basic understanding of vehicle configuration and electrical system integration.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional engineering, manufacturing, and program teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with wire harness design, integration, routing, packaging, or component release.
  • Experience with electrical component releasing, validation, or vehicle/system testing.
  • Familiarity with PROXI/vehicle configuration activities.
  • Experience using DOORS or similar requirements/change management tools.
  • Knowledge of automotive electrical architecture and vehicle communication systems.
  • Familiarity with assembly plant electrical test systems and vehicle build processes.
  • Experience with engineering Change Requests and Post‑2A integration activities.
  • Experience working directly with manufacturing or assembly plant teams.
