ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Design Release Engineer – BCM to drive the design, development, validation, and release of Body Control Module components for automotive programs. The role covers the full product lifecycle from requirements through production launch, with emphasis on DFMEA, DVP&R, and issue resolution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronic/automotive engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years automotive engineering experience in electrical/electronic systems.
  • Experience with BCM or related ECUs and automotive electrical systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, integration, validation, and release of BCM components and related electrical systems.
  • Own BCM component engineering activities and ensure designs meet functional, electrical, performance, quality, and reliability requirements.
  • Work closely with suppliers to coordinate development, reviews, issue resolution, validation, and engineering changes.
  • Review and maintain technical specifications, engineering requirements, drawings, and component documentation.
  • Support DFMEA, DVP&R, and other engineering documentation for BCM components.
  • Coordinate component validation and verification activities and ensure testing is completed according to program requirements.
  • Support vehicle-level integration, development builds, validation events, and production launch activities.
  • Investigate and resolve BCM-related electrical, functional, communication, and integration issues using structured root cause analysis.

Job Description:

The Design Release Engineer – BCM will be responsible for the design, development, integration, validation, and release of Body Control Module (BCM) components and related electrical systems for automotive vehicle programs.

The engineer will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, suppliers, manufacturing, validation teams, and vehicle program teams to ensure BCM components meet functional, performance, quality, reliability, and program requirements. The role will support the complete product development lifecycle, from requirements definition and component development through validation, production launch, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, development, integration, validation, and release of Body Control Module (BCM) components and related electrical systems.
  • Own BCM component engineering activities and ensure designs meet vehicle functional, electrical, performance, quality, and reliability requirements.
  • Work closely with suppliers to coordinate component development, technical reviews, issue resolution, validation, and engineering changes.
  • Review and maintain technical specifications, engineering requirements, drawings, and component documentation.
  • Support development and maintenance of DFMEA, DVP&R, and other engineering documentation for BCM components.
  • Coordinate component validation and verification activities and ensure testing is completed according to program requirements.
  • Support vehicle-level integration, development builds, validation events, and production launch activities.
  • Investigate and resolve BCM-related electrical, functional, communication, and integration issues using structured root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques.
  • Review and manage engineering changes, including change requests, design revisions, and component releases.
  • Coordinate with electrical architecture, software, wiring harness, diagnostics, validation, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to resolve integration issues.
  • Support supplier technical reviews and monitor open issues, corrective actions, and development deliverables.
  • Participate in vehicle build activities and support troubleshooting of BCM-related issues at assembly plants and engineering facilities.
  • Support warranty investigations, field issues, and continuous improvement activities related to BCM components.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering presentations, issue summaries, and project status updates for stakeholders.
  • Ensure all component releases and engineering changes comply with applicable development, quality, and release processes.
  • Support cost, quality, reliability, and design improvement initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of automotive engineering experience, preferably in electrical/electronic systems or component development.
  • Experience with Body Control Modules (BCM), automotive electrical systems, or related electronic control modules.
  • Understanding of automotive electrical architecture, wiring harnesses, vehicle communication, and electrical interfaces.
  • Experience with component development, validation, release, or engineering change management.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with BCM design, development, integration, or release.
  • Experience with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, or Ethernet.
  • Knowledge of body electrical systems such as lighting, power locks, windows, wipers, mirrors, interior electronics, and other body functions.
  • Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, validation, and verification activities.
  • Experience supporting vehicle builds, assembly plant activities, and production launches.
  • Experience with supplier management and component technical reviews.
  • Familiarity with engineering change and product release processes.
  • Experience with automotive diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, DOORS, or similar engineering tools.
  • Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Automotive, or Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
